Visual artist and Dj George Rahme has been an active contributor in the Detroit community for over a decade. “Techno culture released me from the boundaries of mainstream society.” A hot bed for creative culture it was, Detroit’s flourishing music talent attracted Rahme to the motor city were he later re discovered his passion for cutting and mixing with paper and fabric. Rahme’s work adheres to the nature of Magical Realism. Franz Roh describes magical realism as a process of revealing “interior mysteries” rather than hyperbolizing the external world. He has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe represented by Fred Torres Gallery.
Rahme was born in Lansing, Michigan and attended College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan and received a Saatchi Fellowship. He and his partner are opening a bed and breakfast style accommodation for travelers to Detroit interested in the art community, as well as a artist in residency program.
