Zimbabwe Cultural Centre in Detroit (ZCCD) mission is to educate, archive, and promote the arts and culture of Zimbabwe. Our goal is to encourage strong ties between culture producers and residents in both Zimbabwe and abroad acting as catalysts for critical artistic production as well as cultural exchange between diverse communities.

COMRADES / Sharon Sevenzo

ZCCD Chair of the Board of Directors 2017-19

Sharon Sevenzo served as the Chair of the Board for two years and spent five months in the midwest getting to know the community here and has assisted in ZCCD projects in Zimbabwe. She lives and works in Harare Zimbabwe. She is the founder of a non-profit arts program called Art Reach Kids whose mission is to introduce various forms of art to children from disadvantaged communities. Sevenzo received a degree in Business and Entrepreneurship from the Women’s University in Africa, Harare, Zimbabwe. She studied art through an apprenticeship with internationally renowned artist, Tapfuma Gutsa. Sharon believes in the power of art to positively shape lives in marginalised communities.
